COLUMBUS AAYHS

The Blue Ribbon Farms Show Team kicked off the 2010 Show Season in May by "Ridin' with PRIDE" in Columbus, Ohio at the All-American Youth Horse Show.

The BRF Team packed up 18 horses for Samantha Grimm, Tory Ingram, Noah Ingram, Katelynn Greenawald, Kristen Greenawald, Paige Pawucki, Blake Sirko, Melaina Swogger, Colton Swogger, Dillon Swogger, Izzy Barth, Sabrina Perelli, Julie Eguyd and Hannah
Shepler to participate in Games, Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Trail, HUS, and Jumping. These kids have done NOTHING but ride, ride, ride since late December in preparation for this big show......and all their hard work paid off.

Wednesday was "moving in day," but with so many hands and golf carts, it went very quickly......then it is off to ride, bath and band manes for Thursday. Of course, we finished the night with swimming and pizza at the pool.

Thursday morning found all of the kids in everyone's "favorite" - Western Showmanship Classes with Melaina bringing in the first BRF ribbons in Western Pony Showmanship and W/T Horsemanship---a 6th and 8th place with EBBY. All the kids did well but the competition was fierce. That evening, Sam on CHIEF, Katelynn on DEEP WAVE, Dillon on HOOKER, Paige on FRENCH FRY and Blake on HOOKER ran barrels
and poles. "SHE'S
GOT THE JACK!" Katelynn and DEEP WAVE finished 5th of 51 in the 14-18 age group for barrels.

On Friday, Melaina on EBBY, Blake on MADDIE and DAKOTA, and Hannah, Noah and Katelynn on SADIE, Julie on CHLOE, Tory on ECHO, Izzy on TELLIE, Colton and Dillon on SKIPPY showed in various Western Pleasure classes.

Melaina took 6th and 8th on EBBY in W/T Pony Western Pleasure 9 & Under, Katelynn took 6th place Western Pleasure 14 on SADIE, and Hannah placed 3rd in Western Pleasure 18 & Under on SADIE. Way to kick off the weekend!!!

As usual, Saturday was a busy, busy blurr.......we had horses and kids in every ring.....  Paige on SONNY, HERSHEY and MADDIE, Hannah on FOX, HERSHEY and MADDIE, Melaina on EBBY and FOX, Katelynn on FOX, Kristen on KRISTAL, Sabrina on T, Tory on ECHO, Blake on DAKOTA, Noah on SADIE, and Dillon on SKIPPY.

GREAT JOB BRF TEAM!!!!!!!!! Just keeping the horses and classes straight is a challenge but   ….

Paige placed 3rd in Trail 13 & Under on HERSHEY and 5th in Pony HUS 12 & Under on MADDIE, Kristen placed 3rd in Pony English Equitation 12 & Under, 6th Pony HUS 12 & Under, and 7th Pony English Showmanship 12 & Under with KRISTAL, Blake placed 7th in Western Trail 14-16 on MADDIE, Melaina had 2-3rd place ribbons on EBBY and a 3rd place on SKIPPY in W/T Pony and Horse HUS 9 & Under, and Hannah got to participate in the Championship Round with her 2nd place finish on MADDIE in Pony English Equitation 16-18.

Sunday found us giving Paige our undivided attention as she was the only one to "brave" the jumping arena on "HOOKER." Nice job, Paige!!!

What an awesome job from our BRF Team!!! You need to pat yourselves on the back and hold your heads high and proud!!!! WE ARE SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU!!!!!

Of course, a big THANK YOU to Dan, Christine, and Connie for the guidance, hardwork, and wonderful horses!!! We couldn't do it without you!!!!

Memorial Day Hunter Pace Competition at Stone Gate

It was the first time out for most of us from BRF, but what a day.  It started to sprinkle right before we went off to start the course, but it never rained.  There were 33 jumps along a 6 mile stretch.

The teams representing BRF were:  Pam & Pokey, Colleen & Tessa, Emily & Skip, Ann & Roscoe.  Ann & Roscoe were the first out, and in typical “Ann style”, they were out of site in no time at all.  Pam, Emily, and Colleen were a few horses behind and although it was a rocky start, with horses being “pumped up” we got our control back before the first jump and were off.  Pam & Colleen were very excited because they jumped the canoe and whiskey barrel jumps this time, last year they choose to “politely decline” those jumps for how intimidating they
were.  It was Emily’s first time at the hunter pace and for her and Skip never doing this kind of ride before, they were awesome.   Although none of us received a ribbon, we gained confidence and had a great ride.
